>>a big story we are following for you tonight, there are now several confirmed cases at that new covid-19 strain here in california, not good this comes as state leaders brace for perhaps a surge on top of a surge in already overwhelmed hospital systems all across our state kron four's capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala now reporting from sacramento. >>state leaders monday said there are now 6 confirmed cases of the new covid-19 strain in california, the mutated strain was first discovered in the uk and has now been found in 4 people in san diego and 2 in san bernardino one of the patients is hospitalized, we in fact when she just. >>anticipate. they'll be others identified. and we'll know more about this in real

starting to wind down. you see the core low just kind of spun into far northern california bringing some thunderstorms up through that area fact pretty active afternoon. you know, it's lightning strikes right there moving through parts of red bluff and the tornado warning there for a little while, but that has since gone away bay the couple pop-up showers over the mountain tops most of us really settling down now as we head through the evening and then the winds that has been the other story we've had some pretty brisk winds out there and continue to blow in spots a team on our westerly wind now mill valley 17 in the san francisco, 49 put all and 40 mile an hour winds of the west in the napa valley so some gusty winds developing out there and some big time served religious rumbling in along the coastline expecting these waves the bill now to 20 maybe 25 foot with an occasional 30 footer through about 11 o'clock tomorrow evening so be careful out toward the water's edge literally very dangerous out there along the coastline time partly cloudy skies will

be clearing overnight tonight tomorrow becoming mostly sunny. it looks like we'll get a little bit of a break than that rain returns again kind of unsettled weather pattern as we wind out your week temperatures in the 50's outside right now cold front moving through headed south. we've got another one of the north high pressure in building ahead of that one that's going to give us that break for tomorrow then all of a sudden that jet stream starts to dip we start talking about more rain you see right here lori forecast. we head into tomorrow nice day and then your next round of rain moves in as we get into wednesday about the middle of the day a little bit of a break then by thursday night into friday, another storm system likely bring some rain as we get the weekend does want to try and dry out the other ones want to bring a shot of rain as we head in towards sunday. but i think after that then a drying trend story at the rain coming on and off this week that will settle things down a lot of snow for the sierra nevada skiers watch out and 49 get along highway 4 and we've got actually an avalanche warning up there you start to see these different snow packs developing up there with different characteristics some of them we've got that nice
